520 3# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This experimental study deals with the stimulant effect of Oxytetracycline HCl on the growth of Gallus domesticus chicks using 100 mgs. and 250 mgs. concentrations and a control group without antibiotics The group used thirty, one day old unvaccinized Gallus domesticus chicks, ten of which were treated with 100 mgs. Oxytetracycline HCl, ten with 250 mgs. Oxytetracycline HCl and ten with no antibiotics added for 20 days. The antibiotics were diluted with one liter of water, broiler starter feeds were given for the first ten days and broiler booster feeds for the remaining days dialy. The weight of each chick was recorded before the experiment proper and every two days within the twenty day experimentation period Statistical interpretation showed that there is no significant difference between chicks treated with 250 mg, 100 mgs., Oxytetracycline HCl and those with no antibiotic therapy for days 1 to 3. On the succeeding 4 days, 250 mgs. Oxytetracycline HCl treated chicks showed significant increase in weight than 100 mgs. Oxytetracycline HCl treated chicks and the group without antibiotics given. On days 9-20, 250 mgs. and 100 mgs. Oxytetracycline HCl treated chicks showed no statistical significance in their weights. However, chicks treated with 100 and 250 mgs. Oxytetracycline HCl showed greater significant growth than those not subjected to Oxytetracycline HCl.
