Summary, etc. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study, with use of self-administered questionnaire developed by the researcher<br/><br/>SETTING: De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmarinas, Cavite<br/><br/>PARTICIPANTS: 384 Employees and students who have been working or studying at the institution for at least six months at the time the study was done. They were randomly chosen based on stratified random sampling with six strata<br/><br/>MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Test of association using Chi-squre to see the relationship between knowledge and willingness to donate blood by the respondents as reflected in the questionnaire with p values ranged from 0.2369 to .9294<br/><br/>RESULTS: Whether the respondents were knowledgeable or not (71.6% vs 72.2%) majority of them were willing to donate blood voluntarily for hospital use. But this was not statistically significant (p=.9294). Majority of respondents who were knowledgeable on donor qualification (80.5%), screening procedures (80.3%), complications (82.2%), Voluntary Blood Donation Program (VBDP)(76.7%) and over-all knowledge (77.7%) were willing to donate blood when a relative is in need. When tested for association, only knowledge on VBDP was found to be significantly associated with willingness to donate blood (p=.0535)<br/><br/>CONCLUSION: Among the respondents there were no significant associations found between knowledge on donor qualifications, screening procedures, and complications with willingness to participate in blood-letting activity or willingness to donate when a relative is in need of blood. However, correct knowledge on what VBDP is about was found to be associated with the willingness to donate blood when a relative is in need. One hundred percent of those who did not reach college level, 62.8% of those who had reached college, and 77.6% of those who were willing to participate in a VBDP, and the difference in the proportions was found to be statistically significant. Therefore, educational attainment was found to be associated with a positive attitude towards the VBDP.<br/><br/>Objectives<br/>To determine if knowledge on blood donation is associated with willingness to donate blood among students and employees of the De La Salle University Medical Center
