Subject(s): Abstract: This Report summarizes the scientific evidence which served as the bases for the formulation of the new Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) 2000. It highlights the findings of controlled and epidemiological studies and reviews in scientific journals. The results of the national nutrition surveys, which depict the food and nutrition situation, data on dietary patterns and practices related to food, food availability, and statistics on nutrition-related health problems, serve as background for the guidelines It is hoped that this report can help health professionals, health care policy makers and clinical investigators appreciate the NGF and promote the concerted efforts of stakeholders to attain good health through appropriate dietary and nutrition-related practices.
