A comparison of the effect of acupuncture, physical therapy, and acupuncture with physical therapy on tension myalgia / Teresa M. Chu-Uy, Rosalinda Elena B. Milla

Fifty-eight (58) adult patients with tension myalgia were alternately treated with eihter acupunture or physical therapy alone or acupuncture followed by physical therapy for six (6) sessions. Pain was rated using visual analogue scale and pain rating index before and after the third and sixth therapy sessions. Results showed decrease in the VAS and PRI scores for the three group. However, the pain relief derived from acupuncture, physical therapy and acupuncture plus physical therapy was not statistically significant.
