TY - BOOK TI - Tuberculosis of the conjunctiva: a case report KW - Conjunctiva KW - Tuberculosis N2 - A 28 year old Filipino male presented with a three year history of left eye redness associated with blurring of vision and a conjunctival mass unresponsive to conventional topical antibiotic therapy. Ocular examination showed a hypertrophic lesion at the left inferior burbar and palpebral conjunctiva with extension to the cornea. A ruptured corneal ulcer with pannus and fibrin-filled anterior chamber was noted. Vision was hand movement with poor light projection. Conjunctival scraping revealed two-plus for acid fast bacilli. Tissue culture grew Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Conjunctival biopsy showed chronic granulomatous inflammation. No other tuberculous foci were found elsewhere in the body.
