N2  - The study aimed to determine the potability of water sold in the vicinity of public elementary schools in Cebu City as well as to identify the areas selling contaminated ice water Fifteen public elementary schools were randomly selected for the study wherein a maximum of six ice water samples were collected from each school. The samples were placed in a bucket and were brought to the Cebu City Health Microbiology Laboratory for testing using the Standard Test for Water Analysis Of the 61 samples tested for its potability 37 (61%) were positive for coliforms. Thirty (81%) were fecal coliforms. Most of the ice water sold in the vicinity of our public elementary schools were contaminated with fecal coliform organisms and therefore not suitable for drinking
