CGA expands scope of interest to include caregiver and environment and emphasizes on optimization of function and increase in active life expectancy. In several studies, it has been concluded that it improved medical diagnosis, cognition, function and reduced costs and mortality rate. Various assessment tools are used in CGA. In addition to the history and physical examination, social, functional and cognitive assessments are done for patients. The older patients may fail, hearing loss, visual loss and other geriatric syndromes as they consider these symptoms as part of the normal aging or embarrassing problems. aThe Filipino Family Physician, 2012 50 (3) pages 145-148 2aAged 2aGeriatric Assessment
