520 3 _aUsing Sampsons criteria, malignant transformation and endometriosis was described in three cases encountered. This phenomenon was explained on the basis of a biologic similarity between normally located and ectopic endometrial tissue. Suspicion of malignant transformation can be made based on changes in the patients clinical presentation and findings on laparatomy. The role of estrogen was reviewed and recommendations regarding its use in young surgically castrated females with residual or possible residual endometriosis were made.
